Dawn’s Birthday Cake: The Pink Forest Cake

There are some times I just want to slap myself when people ask me questions and I stutter or reply with my tongue twisted. Sigh.. This time round I was probably star-struck. And there is a difference between being shy and rude. I’m just really shy…

I’ve been extremely blessed to have met Cheryl, who created this cake with me for her boss, Dawn as a surprise! Cake is always a good surprise. I love it when people have their full trust in me to create something for them. It doesn’t matter who it is, but I will always give my 110%, no less. Cheryl and her friend searched through my library of cakes and threw some pictures of my rose and raspberry, raspberry chocolate, rose and pistachio cake and I figured things out from there.

Could see the rough idea and went ahead with the rose, raspberry and pistachio body since we chose that flavour. The dripping green liquid is pistachio ganache made with handmade pistachio paste. And once again, melding my three loves ❤

I’m so glad that I bought that bunch of forest plants and used it to make a bunting! My all-time favourite so far. Enough words, just pictures.

Spiced Apple & Speculoos Cake

Been experimenting with a spiced apple and speculoos cake this week. Enjoying every last bit of freedom I have until a new chapter begins! Next time though, I will DEFINITELY get crunchy speculoos and sneak in some apple pie filling. Can almost imagine its taste in my mouth now! Ah… the life of someone who’s constantly thinking of food…

Cake party at dapper coffee

Honestly, when you’re really running a legitimate business or working for one, you do have to put certain fantasies aside and work with whatever you have. This chocolate raspberry cake adorned with rose buds and dried grape fruit sure doesn’t look like a chocolate cake, but that’s all we had.

I’m so sorry if you’re wondering why there’s grapefruit and roses on a chocolate raspberry cake. But I must say the dried grape fruit look cute stuck on the sides like tiny fan-shaped windows. The (self-declared) house specialties sitting behind are the matcha berry and twix cake, also lemon meringue tartlets and the new Favourite cos it’s Ramadan season and dates are dirt cheap – sticky banana and date pudding with vanilla-rum sauce. It’s kind of a cross between banana bread and date pudding (cake). The sauce is a must! Although it’s a replacement for a nice heaping scoop of ice cream, it ain’t too shabby either.
