ABOUT

Little Favors is an online pastry shop primarily serving up cakes and other various bakes. It is our pleasure to serve these flavours that we’ve gathered through our life experiences and travels.
We are thankful to be able to share them with the people we’ve met
and will meet along the way!

Meet Ethel, the person behind Little Favors,

She has worn various hats as a nurse, a baker, and a pastry chef. But one thing that’s for sure is that she loves food and is obsessed with flavor. This has translated into a lifelong obsession that pushed her to switch careers in the pursuit of knowledge as she enrolled to culinary school at the Culinary Institute of America. She went on a truly exciting journey for 4 years at the beginning of 2017. While working in San Francisco, she worked her way up through Michelin star kitchens, eventually started her own pastry program at a fine dining establishment.

Fast forward to 2022. Ethel decided to move back to Singapore. As a pastry chef, she had big dreams to establish herself in the fine dining scene (oh trust me, she tried), but truly, what she wanted and that was missing in Singapore was a good slice of cake. Not just a good slice of cake, but a good slice of cake with tasteful, organic design – this was when she realized that she had to get back in her kitchen and do it herself.

She has been baking under the guise of Little Favors since 2015. She has finally found a good rhythm for the online pastry shop serving up flavor-driven buttercream cakes and other various bakes.

Quality for the discerning palate
Ethel prides herself in serving delicious food and the quality and taste will always be her priority – lots of testing has been done and the best ingredients have been chosen to bring joy to our friends.
The bakes have a lower sugar content and she’s always tweaking to optimize the recipes for freshness and taste.
She pairs buttercream together with fillings like crème pâtissière, chocolate crémeux and curds as not everyone wants to eat a giant chunk of buttercream.
And also believes that the balanced sugar, dash of salt and sometimes the acid in the bakes allows the flavors to come through cleaner.

Design to please the mind
She is drawn to the calm colors that nature provides and the organic aesthetic of wooden wares and linens that translates into the designs of her cakes.
